A Christmas Project

I am never good about taking pictures Christmas morning but I will share one of the gifts I made (Emily- don't read if they have not arrived. Disclaimer she lives in England so I don't know how long shipping will take)

Rory helped me make 85 hair clips for 4 girl cousins, a friends bday present and herself. I was really nervous going into the project because I am new to the craft but it really only took us a little over a day to complete.

Earthquake?

I was woken from a unpleasant dream the other night at 3am. When I woke I realized my bed was shaking back and forth. I thought "Cool, I have finally felt an earthquake!" I never imagined it would be in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve (errr- morning) while it was raining. I felt it again and decided to wake up Roger. We did not feel any movement so I told him about my dream and then he told me about his. He was walking up to his sisters house and stepped in a puddle that had snakes and icky things in them. The things started nibbling at his toes so he was shaking them off. . .his toes. . .in his dream. . . and in real life. So much for finally feeling an earthquake. I guess if it were a real one the windows would have been rattling.

Snow

You might remember Roger looking for snow last year. This year it did not take him so long. No Rory this time though.

What they say is true

Merry Christmas!!
I won't pretend that I eat cookie dough a lot but I have never had problems with the uncooked eggs when I do nibble. Jt had cookies for Santa duty so we used already made refrigerator cookie dough.
He asked if he could have some and Roger said he wouldn't because of the uncooked eggs. Jt decided to have some anyway. On our way to the traditional Chinese Christmas Eve dinner Jt started complaining of a pain in his belly and actually started crying and moaning and groaning. He only ate a couple bites of rice and looked horrible. On the way home he was again crying rather loudly. He went upstairs and unloaded his belly. I guess what they say is true.

Merry and BRIGHT

I love freecycle. I love that when our tree broke on the take down last year that I just kept an eye on freecycle for a nice and well. . .free one. The owner decided they were not going to celebrate Christmas anymore which is sad but that means we have a perfectly good tree. We really appreciated the ease of a prelit tree and were shocked on the brightness but we soon got over it. On a side note, I love not caring how my family puts the ornaments on. They are on and we are happy.

The Christmas Wish

Our family sang a song at a Stake Music Festival and you can hear it here. (It was too big to post) We had a great time learning the song and performing it together. I had a horrible cold so I was glad I was not singing a solo. Roger ended up playing like 6 other numbers that night last minute. He was awesome! Simeon knew all the words but is still learning how to sing and stand still so next time he can sing with us. Josh and Rory never even got nervous and the audience was large(all the way back to the stage in the cultural hall). They are fantastic. If you were wondering how we recorded this in the Chapel it was at night with clapping and all. My fab friend even got the Stake Presidents permission. Merry Christmas!

Last Couple Weeks

Wham bam- here goes a huge post. I have been busy enough to give you a peek into my life all at one time.

My Surprise Birthday Party
Roger was awesome and threw me a surprise birthday party with the help of some friends. He had an interesting theme for the party. Here is the words of the invitation:
KELLY’S SHORT NOTICE HAIR PARTY
Notice Kelly’s short hair: (he had lot of pictures of celebs with short hair and me with short hair)
This party will serve two purposes:
1.
It has taken 10 years for Kelly to grow her hair from the crew cut you see above to the buoyant mane of auburn and gold you are now familiar with. I leave it to you, her friends, to make sure her hair evolves tastefully through the next 10 years. Please come prepared to share all your most brilliant hair tips. There will be a prize for the person with the most fantastic hairstyle.
2.
Kelly is turning thirty. Every little bit of support counts.
I didn't get a group picture but we had around 15 gals and a few husbands come.

Good Fun!
College Friends
I was able to see some college roommates for a few hours. There were 4 of us us girls and 3 husbands who indecently we 3 met those husbands the same year in the same ward. We 7 adults took the 11 kids to In n Out for dinner. I posted a picture of 1 gal's grandma's bathroom wall paper because I really liked it.

Thanksgiving
My brothers came for Thanksgiving this year "forcing" me to make a feast. I felt very organized with a spreadsheet of each component- where the recipe was- where the ingredients where- when it was needing to be made- and who was going to make it making it easier to delegate.

Fridge
I did not know how much I loved my fridge until it died. I actually had a meltdown because Roger said we would just bring the cruddy, small one in from the garage (which I was so thankful we had) to use from then on. We were able to get it fixed causing much jubilation in my soul. We even had it fixed for free from a hook up from work. Good old fridge.

Whobilation
Our ward goes all out on most everything and our Christmas party this year was no exeption. With a Grinch Stole Christmas theme and bright colors we were sure to have fun. Just look at the cupcake table.
Not to mention the wild hairdos and decorations.

Santa was fun but not as cool as the Grinch. (Rory has a picture too but I have met my limit of pictures on my blog)

A 2 minute blurb out of 20+ min production.

Projects
A few bags and a blanket I have made. I guess I should clarify- the Christmas quilt is almost done. I still have to hand stitch the binding. I love them!

Chocolate Making

Then there was chocolate making. Imagine 15 gals and plenty of kids for 8 hours making chocolate. We made almond rocha, triple chocolate truffles, peppermint bark, cinnamon bark, Taffy Cracks, dipped pretzels, peanut butter cups, chocolate caramels, peanut butter balls and more. It was actually a lot of fun for the 1st 6 hours and then it got to be too long for my pregnant feet. .But look at the loot!

Pregnancy

All is well with the baby although I did get a little scolded for already gaining 25 lbs. Yeah well- what do you do? That will be my problem after now won't it?

Just Kidding

Another post on Simmy. He has become quite the kidder and I am not laughing.
  • He often tags adults and says "You're it! Just kidding" To the adult it looks like they have been hit by a snotty kid because more likely than not they did not understand what he yelled.
  • When walking past strangers he will yell "Hey you person!" in an obnoxious voice. He may even call them a name like, oh, you know, Tony Hawk. The people he yells at are caught off guard because they are not expecting to be approached by a stranger nor do they understand why he is calling them weird names.
  • Just now, we were walking in a parking lot while a big van waited for us to pass. After we passed Simeon let go and "pretended"to dart back in front of the van that was already moving. Thankfully the man was watching him enough to stop. Ugh!!
I am always left shrugging my shoulders, apologizing, and scolding and believe me he got a big scolding after the van one. He is always laughing.
